SIGNIFICANT FIGURES

On the bus to work I was busy go through my budget this month in my head. And as I was doing that, I was thinking of how we always have to make arrangements for unforeseen expenses, so I was thinking along the line of "roughly it will cost me this much." However as I had that thought another then just came up, and that was there are no insignificant numbers. Numbers that have no bearing to the total sum whatsoever.
As an engineering student in my first year I got introduced to an unfamiliar term, "significant figures", quite frankly I am surprised I still remember this.In engineering and science we have to account for the significant decimals places that are there in a number. (Google this). For example if a number has the highest numbers of significant figures meaning more numbers after the decimal we take that as the numbers of significant figures we must round of to. So if you have a number that is 2.0003, those zeroes are significant because they can/will affect the overall sum total. For instance when you go shopping at your local supermarket, usually they prices are like R12.15 or R7.79, and some seem to be cheaper with the amount after the decimal which I will term the "decimal effect", that when you get to the cashier suddenly you get the shock of your life, you're paying more than what you had roughly assumed you would, due to the fact that there are no insignificant numbers. All numbers are significant.
This then brings me to you because YOU may be asking, "Okay why are you telling me this?" You are a significant figure (pun intended). Your presence here and actions you do that you may regard as insignificant is of immense value and has enormous effect about the sum total of this thing called life. To illustrate, using numbers again, imagine a number like 9,999,999.999999999 it need only one "insignificant number to make that ten million and that number is not one that's a round estimate which is an incorrect value and undermines the true value of this insignificant number. That number is 0.0000000001. That's not 1. And if you add that insignificant number to the ones that seems more significant, what happens? It changes the whole matrix to 10,000,000.0000000000. That's how powerful and significant that number is. That's how powerful and significant you are. The small things count.
There are no insignificant figures, numbers that don't matte,R that don't add value or make a difference. Whether the significance is for good or bad is irrelevant. And usually the not so go significance is brought by the ignorance of the true power that one has. Had someone truly saw or understood their power they would naturally use that for whatever they label as "good". If your are still wondering about the true power of your insignificant actions or still need better convincing has what I once posted about your true power:
=¤|RIPPLES OF CHANGE|¤=

If you truly believe that one small act can't make a difference I suggest you take a look around the environment. It is filled with so much filth, and it only just took one small act of littering to make it as such.

That's how much power you have. And if such power is used unconsciously it becomes destructive and poisonous. If used consciously it has the potential to be ...
of benefit and create wonderful realities to those who are aware of it.. So please Stop playing small with your power to make a positive difference and take ownership. The world is this way because of you choosing to playing small with your significance and power.

Start today to act as if what you do makes a difference because IT DOES! Start by throwing your litter in the rubbish bin and not the earth. Keep it in your pocket or bag until you find a place designated for it. Do this with your litter first and see what changes happening in how you now do things.

"If everyone would sweep their own doorstep, the whole world will be clean." ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Business 101: Becoming an Investor.

What is one of the key disciplines that any successful corporation practises? INVESTING. Every business relies on investing for success, and for the incredibly successful businesses they invest like crazy; in R&D, and product lines. Heck, even our own economy relies on investors in order to grow. So why not be an investor. Probably the first and almost immediate objection to this suggestion is "I don't have money to invest." And I for one, am completely in agreements with that. However, why not invest the one resource that you always have at your disposal - TIME . That's right. Invest your time. Ah, suddenly it seems so obvious now doesn't it, but would you like to guess on how many people actually overlook this important fact? (By the way, this is can well be a lecture on time management). And since all investment have the dominant factor of Time in them, why not begin by turning your focus on this one incredible resource and use it to your personal investmen

Generation eXcellence

I was reading some wonderful notes from Robin Sharma's Little Black Book of Stunning Success ( http://www.robinsharma.com/leadership-best ) and a thought crossed my mind: have we settled for mediocrity in our society?  Have we  allowed ourselves to tolerate mediocrity in our lives, because the truth is we interact with the aspects of the world which match our own standards. We see the world not as it is but as we are . How often do we offer less than our best to the quality of relationships with ourselves and things.? Are we allowing the quality of our lives be compromised due to what everybody else is doing? This is even evident  to how we  treat nature. The care with which we have for our natural environment is something of grave concern, and many defend this mediocre behaviour with "everybody else is doing it." and the worst one yet, "We are creating jobs for others"  Have we accepted mediocrity to be the order of our generation's existence?

“The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

“Be the change you want to see in the world.” ~ Gandhi.  How often have you had the thought of changing the world? If you are anything like me, I have it more often than I have a glass of warm milk with cookies (okay that’s wacky...anyway). Or maybe it is something more like,” how can one act make a difference?” but all to often for many people another thought creeps in, “Who am I? I am just a small drop in the ocean.” (see the picture on the left) Or, “It takes a really special, gifted, and powerful person to even think of changing the world. And “ I am neither special nor gifted, let alone powerful.” If you think you are too small to make a difference, try going to sleep with the mosquito in the room" ~ Dalai Lama Like me, you’ve probably have looked at legendary people who are making it and thought, “what is it that they have that I don’t or lack.” And the answer is – they have the conviction that they can make a difference; that they are an immense and integral part
